HIST 033 - U.S. History II

An examination of selected issues and topics in U.S. History from the Civil War to the Civil Rights era. Includes study of the U.S. Constitution/Govt. High school completion class, counts toward U.S. History II and/or Contemporary World Problems credit.

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Identify, describe and discuss achievements and trends of cultures and individuals during from the Civil War to the Civil Rights era. [COMMUNICATE]
Identify and show examples of how technological advances shaped America. [EXPLORE]
Identify and interpret the major ideas set forth in the Constitution that effect this period of History. [REASON]
Analyze the Emancipation Proclamation, and the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments that defined and broadened Civil Rights in America. [EXPLORE]
Communicate core concepts and ideas in U.S. history from the Civil War to the Civil Rights era. [COMMUNICATE]
Research, compare and analyze perspectives within this time period using multiple source materials. [REASON]
