HUM 106 - Film Genres
5.0 Credits Analysis, including psychological analysis, of the narrative patterns, conventions and traditions of film noir and other genres from the perspective of archetypal psychology.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the basic elements of various film genres (Film Noir, the Western, Sci-Fi, Musicals, Thrillers, etc.) and their particular vocabulary (narrative, mise en scene, cinematography, acting, editing, sound). [REASON]
- Analyze film techniques, dramatic and literary qualities, and underlying themes, archetypes, and mythologies. [REASON]
- Write well-organized film analyses. [COMMUNICATE]
- Communicate effectively in discussions, group work and oral presentations. [COMMUNICATE]
- Evaluate and compare films within the cultural contexts in which they are made and viewed. [EXPLORE]
