HUM 201 - American People
5.0 Credits Explores literary and popular expressions of American culture in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Prerequisite: Placement in ENGL& 101 (was ENGL 105).
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehension of course readings. [REASON]
- Identify American cultural values, assumptions and characteristics as expressed in course readings. [REASON]
- Explain how cultural expressions in course readings reflect their historical contexts. [REASON]
- Apply course concepts to course readings in analytical essays and a major class project. [COMMUNICATE]
- Collaborate with others in producing and presenting the class project. [COMMUNICATE]
- Explain how texts read for the course and for the project reflect the experiences and perceptions of diverse groups within American culture at a particular time and place. [EXPLORE]
