OSH 240 - Handling Hazardous Materials
4.0 Credits Overview of regulations on hazard recognition, protective equipment, biological/radiological toxicology, monitoring decontamination. OSHA 40-hour HOZWOPER card issued upon completion of an additional 8-hours hands-on session.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the requirements of 29CFR1910.120. [COMMUNICATE]
- Recognize and mitigate for a variety of hazards, particularly the handling of chemicals. [REASON]
- Describe the purpose of personal protective equipment (PPE) and under which circumstances different PPE is used. [REASON]
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of chemical, biological and radiological toxicology and the associated medical surveillance requirements. [REASON]
- Implement appropriate sampling and monitoring procedures. [ACT]
- Execute emergency response procedures including appropriate decontamination procedures. [ACT]
