AHE 165 - Restorative Aide
3.0 Credits Covers expanded role of certified nurse assistant in promoting and maintaining functional independence for individual residents in long term care, rehab care or acute care setting. Includes adaptive equipment and methods used to restore clients’ highest functioning level. Prerequisite: Valid NA-C license in WA State or completion of AHE 110 , 162 , and 164 ; or without a valid NA-C license: AHE 110 , 116 , BSTEC 104 , 129 , HIV/AIDS, CPR with a minimum grade of 2.0 or equivalent.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Compare and contrast different types of rehab including skilled, restorative and functional. [REASON]
- Recognize and implement measures of restorative care. [REASON]
- Explain the purpose of rehabilitation services and the role of the restorative aide as part of the rehabilitation team. [COMMUNICATE]
- Explain and demonstrate exercises and skills required to enhance the individual’s ability to achieve or maintain self care. [ACT]
- Explain and demonstrate the skills needed for utilizing adaptive equipment and alternative methods to achieve individual’s goals. [ACT]
