BSTEC 209I - Desktop Publishing
1.0 to 3.0 Credits Fundamentals of desktop publishing using Microsoft Publisher. Prior keyboarding and word processing recommended. S/U grade option. Registration permitted first seven weeks (six in summer) as space is available. Prerequisite BSTEC 130 or equivalent. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- Demonstrate the fundamentals of desktop publishing including layout, graphics, manipulation, text editing, and printing.
- Define terminology basic to desktop publishing and printing.
- Demonstrate the basics of typography: typefaces, units of measurement, letter spacing, and concepts of readability and legibility.
- Demonstrate an ability to generate visual and typographical ideas to solve specific communications problems.
