BSTEC 209I - Desktop Publishing

1.0 to 3.0 Credits
Fundamentals of desktop publishing using Microsoft Publisher. Prior keyboarding and word processing recommended. S/U grade option. Registration permitted first seven weeks (six in summer) as space is available.
Prerequisite BSTEC 130 or equivalent.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate the fundamentals of desktop publishing including layout, graphics, manipulation, text editing, and printing.
Define terminology basic to desktop publishing and printing.
Demonstrate the basics of typography: typefaces, units of measurement, letter spacing, and concepts of readability and legibility.
Demonstrate an ability to generate visual and typographical ideas to solve specific communications problems.
