CIS 278 - Security Implementation II

Topics include: planning, configuring and implementing firewalls, proxy servers and Web filtering. The use of log consolidation tools will also be covered.
Prerequisite CIS 277 with a minimum grade of 2.5 or concurrent enrollment or equivalent experience.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Identify and configure security commands in internetworking devices such as routers, switches and firewalls.
Design firewall configuration strategies given a business scenario.
Authenticate users.
Implement appropriate packet filtering.

Compare and contrast Bastion Hosts.
Implement a secure VPN.
Isolate, contain, document and recover from a security breach.
Implement appropriate firewall troubleshooting procedure used to fix a given problem.
