HSPTR 117 - Caribbean, Mexico, and Africa

Introduction to the prime tourist destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, and safari destinations in Africa. Course uses Destination Specialist (DS) texts and tests from The Travel institute. Students successfully completing the DS tests will receive national certification from The Travel Institute.
Prerequisite Minimum placement into EAP 121 or BRDGE 093.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of the prime tourist destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico.
Describe major safari destinations in Africa.
Analyze historical and cultural information as it relates to travel destinations.
Research and explain travel documentation, currencies, travel restrictions, and time zones for travel to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Africa.
Research and present a group project on a travel destination.
Utilize case studies and the Internet to research travel destinations.
