CTAP 130 - Health and Safety for the Trades
3.0 Credits
This course provides instruction in health and safety needed for the trades. Topics include physical fitness, healthy eating habits, worksite assessment, identifying workplace hazards, hazard prevention, personal protective equipment, and any industry related to Department of Corrections safety training.
Prerequisite GED, high school diploma, or above.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Participate in stretching and flexing.
- Develop sufficient endurance and stamina to enter an apprenticeship program.
- Demonstrate proper, safe handling and movement of building materials and equipment.
- Explain the importance of healthy eating habits for labor intensive careers.
- Detect workplace hazards.
- Identify hazard prevention
- Demonstrate proper usage of personal protective equipment.
- Complete OSHA 10 training successfully.
- Demonstrate appropriate worksite behaviors and expectations.
