ASL& 121 - American Sign Language I
5.0 Credits Beginning grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. Focus on ASL constructions and use. Introduction to the history, culture, and current issues of the Deaf community. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- Comprehend content communicated in expressive ways to them in the target language.
- Communicate complex messages, thoughts, opinions and points of view with clarity in the target language.
- Receptive skills for comprehension and make use of analytical skills and critical thinking.
- Demonstrate understanding of vocabulary and grammar structures through expressive skills in target language.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of the literature, traditions and institutions of the target language and culture.
- Compare and contrast to your own culture.
