MFG 105 - Introduction to Aircraft Basics



2.0 Credits
Course provides broad knowledge of aviation industry. Learn about evolution of aircraft designs and understanding of different types and configurations of common aircraft. Explore aerospace specific concepts and processes including sealing, electrical bond and safety.
Prerequisite Corequisites: MFG 120 & MFG 159.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain different configurations of aircraft; how the aircraft is built and why.
  2. Describe and demonstrate vocabulary specific to the aircraft manufacturing environment.
  3. Distinguish a variety of aircraft bonding and grounding methods; demonstrate understanding of the bond and ground process and how it relates to aircraft safety and performance.
  4. Describe and identify Personal Protective Equipment. Identify and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for a specific task/activity.
  5. Recognize basic aircraft sealing tools, equipment, processes and hazards.
