MFG 120 - Manufacturing Overview



5.0 Credits
This course provides an overview of manufacturing practices, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lab safety practices and appropriate use of power island and other equipment. This course covers the fundamentals of manufacturing processes, documentation and quality control, as well as introduces assembly, sealants and measuring tools.
Corequisite MFG 105, MFG 120 and MFG 159 must be taken together.

Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the proper usage and benefits of basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) specific to manufacturing.
  2. Describe standard safety practices for chemicals (SDS), power tools, and other equipment used in manufacturing.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of drilling, cutting and measuring processes and equipment by virtual demonstration.
  4. Develop listening comprehension especially as it relates to lectures and note taking.
  5. Develop and apply study and test taking skills.
