MFG 123 - Metrology for Quality Assurance

Introduction to basic measurement techniques, tools, and equipment used in aerospace manufacturing environment. Overview of inspection of various materials including hard metal, aluminum, and composites.
Prerequisite MFG 105, MFG 120, and MFG 159 all with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Corequisite MFG 124, MFG 169, and MFG 189.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Describe, select, and use a variety of measurement tools, such as calipers and micrometers.
Establish calibration intervals using usage history and gage studies.
Demonstrate various inspection and testing concepts and processes, including Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
Demonstrate and apply sampling systems for metal and composites materials.
