MFG 125 - Metrology for Tooling



6.0 Credits
Introduction to basic measurement tools, techniques and equipment used in manufacturing tooling environments. Demonstrate appropriate use of precision measuring equipment.
Prerequisite MFG 105, MFG 120, and MFG 159 all with GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Corequisite MFG 130, MFG 131, and MFG 132.

Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe, select, and use a variety of measurement tools, such as calipers, gauges, and other equipment.
  2. Establish calibration intervals using usage history and gauge studies.
  3. Use gages to mark metals for cutting and drilling.
  4. Use metal stamps to mark all parts and tools.
  5. Identify and appropriately use measuring tools.
