MFG 145 - Maritime Fiberglass Lamination Safety



4.5 Credits
Introduction to maritime fiberglass lamination safety concepts and practices. In a lab environment, learn and apply knowledge of environmental and material hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), tool and machine safety, accident prevention, and building a safety culture.
Prerequisite Successful completionof Maritime Manufacturing Core Certificate (classes include: MFG 106, MFG 120 and MFG 159 each with a 3.0 or higher).
Corequisite MFG 146 MFG 147 MFG 148

Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  1. Identify common hazardous materials
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its proper usage in an active lab environment.
  3. Assess safety risks associated with the fiberglass lamination process
  4. Implement safety procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries
  5. Develop safe work habits and behaviors for working with fiberglass materials and equipment
  6. Safely handle, clean, and dispose of hazardous materials and tools used in lamination tasks
  7. Demonstrate communication skills that develop a culture of safety awareness and compliance in the workplace
