MFG 145 - Maritime Fiberglass Lamination Safety
4.5 Credits Introduction to maritime fiberglass lamination safety concepts and practices. In a lab environment, learn and apply knowledge of environmental and material hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), tool and machine safety, accident prevention, and building a safety culture. Prerequisite Successful completionof Maritime Manufacturing Core Certificate (classes include: MFG 106, MFG 120 and MFG 159 each with a 3.0 or higher). Corequisite MFG 146

Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify common hazardous materials
- Demonstrate knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its proper usage in an active lab environment.
- Assess safety risks associated with the fiberglass lamination process
- Implement safety procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries
- Develop safe work habits and behaviors for working with fiberglass materials and equipment
- Safely handle, clean, and dispose of hazardous materials and tools used in lamination tasks
- Demonstrate communication skills that develop a culture of safety awareness and compliance in the workplace
