MFG 147 - Maritime Fiberglass Lamination II
5.0 Credits Intermediate course in lamination materials and processes. Covers material selection, identification and prevention of defects, and finishing. Includes development of effective work habits and communication desired by employers. Prerequisite Successful completion of Maritime Manufacturing Core Certificate (classes include MFG 106, MFG 120 and MFG 159 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher). Corequisite MFG 145

Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Select fiberglass materials appropriate to the requirements of each project.
- Demonstrate understanding of the factors affecting resin curing.
- Develop techniques to evaluate and troubleshoot common issues, defects, such as air bubbles, resin pooling, or delamination.
- Demonstrate understanding of structural reinforcement techniques to enhance the strength of fiberglass laminates.
- Demonstrate understanding of finishing techniques and their importance in achieving durability and uniformity in laminated surfaces.
- Develop techniques to finish and trim fiberglass projects using required tools.
- Demonstrate the habits and characteristics of an effective employee and team member.
