A philosophical consideration of ethical issues in Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as transparency; privacy; bias; responsibility and liability; autonomy; human flourishing and dignity; love, friendship, and sex.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain and discuss ethical principles and the philosophical arguments that bear on them.
  2. Explain and discuss philosophical theories of technology. 
  3. Identify key ethical issues that bear on Artificial Intelligence, such as transparency; privacy; bias; responsibility and liability; autonomy; human flourishing and dignity; love, friendship, and sex. 
  4. Apply ethical principles to the analysis of, and solution to, these problems, and clarify and communicate a personal judgment about each issue.
