PHYS& 242 - Engineering Physics II
4.0 Credits Topics covered will include electromagnetism, oscillations, and gravitation. Four hours of lecture and two hours of lab weekly. S/U grade option. Prerequisite: PHYS& 241 (was PHYS& 221), MATH& 152 (was MATH 152) and ENGL& 101 (was ENGL 105), each with a grade of 2.0 or higher.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding at the majors-level of the basic principles of electromagnetism, oscillations, and gravity. [REASON]
- Develop a clear understanding of the scientific method and its application to these principles. [REASON]
- Apply quantitative measures to situations involving these principles and develop a strong facility for working problems based on these principles. [REASON]
- Analyze a physical system to decide what information and principles are relevant to understanding the behavior of the systems. [REASON]
- Clearly communicate fundamental knowledge particular to physics with their peers using appropriate vocabulary. [COMMUNICATE]
