SS 13.0 - Graduation and Commencement :

SUMMARY/SCOPE
Participation in the Edmonds College graduation ceremony is open to students who have completed or will complete the requirements for their diploma, certificate, or degree during the current academic year.

Edmonds College has set forth a graduation and commencement policy as described below.

DESCRIPTION
A. Commencement

Participation in the Edmonds College graduation ceremony is open to all students who have completed or will complete the requirements for their diploma, certificate, or degree during the current academic year. Students who will complete the requirements during the following summer quarter may also participate provided that they will have met the college residency requirements for their diploma, certificate, or degree during the current academic year. A student desiring a waiver of this requirement may petition the Academic Standards Committee.

B. Graduation Application Procedure

1. As soon as a student is registered for the courses which complete the requirement for the desired degree, certificate, or diploma, the student should complete and submit a graduation application. The graduation application should be received by the Credentials Evaluators by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate, in order to be processed for that quarter and included in the Commencement program.

2. The Credentials Evaluators will process the application in preparation for awarding degrees, certificates, or diplomas after grades are received at the end of the quarter. If an evaluator determines a graduation application requires further review, it will be forwarded to an appropriate faculty member and/or dean.

3. After the quarter is completed and the grades have been posted, the Credentials Evaluator will check for satisfactory completion of the required courses as indicated on the approved graduation application. Credential Evaluators are responsible for verifying whether the graduation requirements have been met as stated in the current catalog.

4. Once graduation applications have been fully processed for the quarter, students will be issued an electronic diploma, then hard copies of diplomas will be mailed to the current mailing address for the student in the system unless students have notified Credentials Evaluators of a different address.
