5.0 Credits Explores literary and popular expressions of American culture in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Prerequisite Placement in ENGL& 101. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehension of course readings.
- Identify American cultural values, assumptions, and characteristics as expressed in course readings.
- Explain how cultural expressions in course readings reflect their historical contexts.
- Explain how texts read for the course reflect the experiences and perceptions of diverse groups within American culture at a particular time and place.
- Apply course concepts to course readings in analytical essays and other projects.
- Use visual images to demonstrate diverse perspectives in American culture.
