MUSC 171 - Soundsation Vocal Jazz Choir

Intensive study of jazz singing and playing, including differing styles, improvisation/interpretation, vocal technique and ensemble singing with microphones; numerous required performances/ tours each quarter.
Prerequisite Instructor permission.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate appropriate technique, tone production, stylization and improvisation in jazz.
Demonstrate behavior commensurate with being in a professional performing ensemble.
Prepare appropriately for rehearsal and performance.
Discuss jazz performers/styles through focused, critical listening.
