MUSC 172 - Soundsation Vocal Jazz Choir

Intensive study of advanced jazz singing and playing, including differing style, improvisation/interpretation, vocal technique, and ensemble singing with microphones; numerous required performances/ tours each quarter.
Prerequisite MUSC 171 with a minimum grade of 3.0.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Reinforce appropriate technique, tone production, stylization and improvisation in jazz.
Reinforce behavior commensurate with being in a professional performing ensemble.
Demonstrate ability to prepare solo jazz literature for performance.
Discuss jazz performers/styles through focused, critical listening.
