PCAPP 271 - Mechanical Design - Surface Design
10.0 Credits In this higher level CATIA course students will learn to use wireframe geometry and surfaces to create complex features not possible in the Part Design workbench. This course also helps prepare students to pass the Dassault Systems Surface Design certification exam. Prerequisite It is highly recommended that students enrolling in CATIA Level 3 have passed at least the Dassault Systems Part Design Specialist Certification. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to create assemblies from drawing or physical model.
- Analyze part Specification Tree design and demonstrate how to make repairs.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a team to create large assemblies.
- Describe the critical processes and issues in designing a product for manufacture.
- Describe the features of a network based storage system.
- Demonstrate a functional understanding of the use of Product Data Management (PDM) and how it relates to the global system.
