EMERG 115 - Basic Incident Command System

This course describes the history, features, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System (ICS), including the relationship between the ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the general staffing structure within the ICS.
- Identify the five major management functions within the ICS.
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Commander and Command Staff.
- Describe the advantages of common communication and information management standards.
- Describe how the NIMS affects the way resources are managed.
