FLED 172 - Cooperative Preschool Board Leadership
1.0 Credits
Students function as executive members of the college affiliated preschool’s nonprofit board under the guidance of FLED faculty and FLED Operations Specialist. Students work with fellow board members to facilitate the operations of a nonprofit business; including but not limited to: employee supervision, budgeting, marketing, fiscal control, and classroom operations. Community based parenting education course combining lecture, discussion, and lab/practicum experience.
Corequisite FLED 122.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify effective leadership behaviors and actions that encourage collaborative relationships.
- Assess and analyze personal leadership style and skills and how that impacts communication with others.
- Recognize problem solving and decision making skills in governing boards for effective management of nonprofit corporations.
- Identify culturally competent, relevant, and flexible skills and knowledge to work with diverse families.
