ASL& 122 - American Sign Language II

Continuation of ASL& 121. Expands on the grammar, vocabulary and functional uses of ASL. Continuing focus on Deaf culture and community values.
Prerequisite Prerequisite: ASL& 121 with a minimum grade of 2.0 or instructor permission.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explain more complex grammatical structures of ASL, such as pronoun/number combinations, contrastive structures, basic classifiers, and past and future tenses.
Demonstrate receptive and expressive signing skills in using conversational ASL.
Utilize conceptually accurate signs and idiomatic expressions.
Demonstrate the ability to initiate, conduct, and terminate short conversations in ASL using appropriate conversational regulator.
Use videos to critically observe and analyze their own signing skills.
Demonstrate an awareness of Deaf culture through contextual settings in class.
