AHE 195 - Sterile Processing II
4 Credits Course covers assembly and packaging guidelines and procedures, and point-of-use processing standards and recommended practices. Additional topics include high temperature sterilization procedures, types of steam sterilizers, low-temperature sterilization procedures and sterile storage, and transportation guidelines. Prerequisite Completion of or concurrent enrollment in AHE 194. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate correct assembly, packaging, and wrapping of medical devices and surgical supplies in preparation for appropriate sterilization process and/or distribution.
- Safely select and perform proper sterilization techniques, validate sterility assurance level monitoring, and maintain sterilization integrity during storage.
- Apply the principles of inventory control, sterile storage, and distribution of supplies.
