GED 3 - Spanish GED® Reading/Science Intermediate

Course Description
This structured course supports students in developing and demonstrating competencies in basic science skills. Students will build knowledge in life science, physical science, and earth and space science, while reinforcing essential concepts for real-life applications. The course is designed to prepare students for success in Spanish GED® courses and the official Spanish GED® Science test. Completion of or co-enrollment in PREP 12 is recommended. Department orientation and advising are required before enrollment.

Este curso estructurado apoya a los estudiantes en el desarrollo y la demostración de competencias en ciencias básicas. Los estudiantes adquirirán conocimientos en ciencias de la vida, ciencias físicas y ciencias de la tierra y el espacio, a la vez que reforzarán conceptos esenciales para su aplicación en la vida real. El curso está diseñado como preparación para el éxito en los cursos de GED® en Español y el examen oficial de Ciencias de GED® en Español. Se recomienda completar o co-inscribirse en PREP 12. Se requiere orientación y asesoramiento del departamento antes de la inscripción.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Describe foundational concepts related to one or more branches of science, such as life science, physical science, or earth and space science, to increase scores on Spanish GED® tests.
Read and comprehend scientific texts to extract key ideas and supporting evidence.
Interpret and analyze data presented in charts, tables, graphs, and diagrams to identify patterns and relationships.
Demonstrate use of critical thinking skills to evaluate scientific claims, understand cause-and-effect relationships, and make informed decisions based on evidence.
Apply the scientific method, including forming hypotheses, designing and conducting experiments, collecting data, drawing conclusions, and communicating results.
Perform simple mathematical calculations related to measurements, data analysis, or problem-solving in science labs.
