Program Description Students in the Network Technology ATA degree program will learn the interaction between the software and the hardware of computers and computer network systems. Upon completion of the degree, students will have followed curriculum and instruction that will allow them to prepare for and take the following industry certification exams:
• A+
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Windows Server 2008 70-640, 70-642 and 70-643
• Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)

Topics included in the degree:
• Install, troubleshoot, upgrade, and repair stand-alone computers
• Install, wire, configure, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot complex Local Area Networks
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server
• Set up and configure network protocols
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routers
• Design LANs and WANs

Upon graduation, students may be qualified for entry-level employment in the following areas: LAN administration, a variety of positions in the networking field, desktop support, help desk support, and PC support.

Entry Requirements Students entering this program will need to contact Enrollment Services and take both the English and Math placement tests. Students should bring the results of these tests to their first advising appointment with a CIS/CEN adviser for proper placement into the program. In addition, some CIS certificates and degrees begin at an advanced level and are designed for students already in the IT field. Students entering these programs may complete a portfolio of prior learning by taking CIS 116 . The portfolio will be used to waive entry-level courses and place students in the appropriate advanced courses. Please see a CIS/CEN faculty adviser for more information.

Career Management Requirement Students obtaining ATA degrees are required to take at least one (1) credit of career management, as listed on this requirement sheet.

Credit/Grade Requirements This ATA degree is awarded upon completing the 93 credits of Program Requirements as outlined. A minimum of 30 credits or one-third, whichever is less, of the required credits must have been received from Edmonds Community College. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college-level courses as well as a minimum grade point average of 2.8 within the program requirements.

Cultural Diversity Requirement All students earning a degree or certificate of 45 credits or more must meet a cultural diversity (CD) requirement by taking at least five (5) credits of CD courses. Students Are Advised To

Plan their schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year,
Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning, and
Communicate with an academic adviser.
Submit an “Evaluation Request - Transfer Credits” form (available in Enrollment Services) to activate the process of transferring credits to Edmonds Community College

Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted to Enrollment Services by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Forms are available online or at Enrollment Services located in Lynnwood Hall. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.

CWU Transfer This ATA degree transfers directly to Central Washington University’s Bachelors in Information Technology and Administrative Management on the Edmonds Community College campus.
