Advanced Manufacturing Skills Center - Aerospace Manufacturing Assembly Certificate of Completion


Program Description Graduates of this program qualify for entry level positions as assembly mechanics. This position would perform a wide range of job duties from processing and fabrication to assembly and inspection. The assembly mechanic must possess an extensive knowledge of tools, processes and inspection methodologies. The certificate includes 13 modules: Mechanic Orientation, Power Island, Basic Drilling and Riveting, Advanced Fasteners, Countersinking and Flush Riveting, 90 Degree Drilling, Reaming and Permanent Fasteners, Wing Structure, Fuselage Skin, Drilling Titanium, Drilling Composite, Sealant Application, and Electrical Bond and Ground Composite Manufacturing. Many skills achieved in the Aerospace Assembly Mechanic program can readily transfer to other industries. This certificate of completion requires successful completion of a minimum of 18.5 credits as outlined.

Program Requirements (18.5 credits)


OUTCOMES:

  1. Demonstrate practical knowledge of drilling, countersinking, and riveting in aerospace manufacturing.
  2. Demonstrate practical knowledge of safety and quality control in drilling in aerospace manufacturing.
  3. Understand the technical and manufacturing knowledge and skill necessary to be an assembly mechanic.
  4. Understand the terminology and documentation skills required of an assembly mechanic.
  5. Demonstrate practical knowledge of power island equipment and all associated safety practices.

  • The Advanced Manufacturing Skills Center COC’s require the student to maintain a minimum grade point of 3.0 for each course listed on this program sheet in order to earn the COC.

Certificate of Completion General Information


This certificate of completion (COC) is awarded upon completion of the required number of courses. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or S grades in all college level courses in order to earn this COC. Certain certificates may require a higher cumulative grade point average as dictated by industry standards. All credits for this COC must be earned at Edmonds College.

Certificates of completion (COCs) are not eligible for financial aid; however, some COCs may be eligible for veteran’s benefits. If you are interested in this COC, please talk to your faculty advisor or an academic advisor in student services.

Student achievement is assessed in the general and program specific outcomes via the courses and course objectives that align with those outcomes. More information about program outcomes and course objectives can be found on the Using Program Requirement Sheets  page.

Students Are Advised To:

  • Plan their schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year;
  • Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning; and

Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.
