Return to: Degrees and Certificates by Type
Program Description The Associate in Science (AS-T) transfer degree is designed to prepare mechanical, civil, aeronautical, industrial, and materials science engineering majors for transfer to a four-year institution with junior standing. The AS-T transfer degree will generally provide the transferring student with at least 110 credits upon entry to a four-year institution. This transfer degree will satisfy some, but not all, of the general education requirements at the receiving institution. This degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 120 credits as outlined.
Advising Note This program requirement sheet is not a substitute for meeting with an academic advisor. Meeting the requirements to graduate with an Edmonds CC certificate or degree is ultimately the responsibility of the student. |

OUTCOMES: - Apply the skills and knowledge acquired through coursework to analyze issues, tackle problems, and critically evaluate a proposal, claim, process, or theory as applied to mechanical, civil, aeronautical, industrial, and materials science engineering.
- Use appropriate quantitative tools to tackle scientific questions, represent data, and document scientific findings as applied to mechanical, civil, aeronautical, industrial, and materials science engineering.
- Demonstrate the knowledge acquired through coursework by effectively communicating to fellow team members, the public, and members of the scientific community, using written, oral, and visual communication methods as applied to mechanical, civil, aeronautical, industrial, and materials science engineering.
- Safely and appropriately use standard laboratory or field equipment to make precise and reliable measurements as applied to mechanical, civil, aeronautical, industrial, and materials science engineering.
- Demonstrate the understanding that science relies on evidence, and that scientific knowledge is tentative, open to revision, falsifiable, and subject to constraints as applied to mechanical, civil, aeronautical, industrial, and materials science engineering.
Career and College Success (3 credits)
OUTCOME: Develop professional and academic skills and strategies for career and college success. ____Career and College Success Requirement met Note: The Career and College Success course credits apply to General Electives in this degree and must be completed within the first two quarters. Students who transfer in 30 or more college-level credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher are exempt from the Career and College Success course. The Engineering Department recommends students take ENGR 100 - Engineering Orientation their first quarter. Program Electives (20 credits minimum)

Associate in Science General Information
Program of Study Outcomes Edmonds College’s four General Education Outcomes (Communicate, Act Responsibly, Reason, and Explore) are promoted throughout the college’s programs. Instructional programs of 45 credits or more foster learning in all four General Education Outcomes.
Student achievement is assessed in the general and program specific outcomes via the courses and course objectives that align with those outcomes. More information about program outcomes and course objectives can be found on the Using Program Requirement Sheets page.
Credit/Grade Requirements A minimum of 30 credits or one-third of the required college-level (100-level or above) credits, whichever is less, must be earned at Edmonds College. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college level courses.
Students Are Advised To:
- Plan your schedule, in consultation with a STEM faculty advisor, several quarters in advance to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice per year;
- Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning;
- Communicate with an academic advisor and/or a faculty advisor; and
- At least three quarters before you plan to graduate, contact any college(s) where you have earned credits and have your official transcript(s) sent to Edmonds College. Then, submit an Evaluation Request - Transfer Credits Form (available in Enrollment Services) to activate the process of transferring credits to Edmonds College.
Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.
Transferring to Another University or College
- Admission application deadlines vary, students must meet the deadline for the university or college to which they plan to apply for admission to transfer.
- Consultation with a science faculty advisor and the appropriate department at your four-year transfer institution about course selection and completion of degree requirements is highly recommended.
