Computer Information Systems - DevOps Engineer Certificate

Program Description  

The DevOps Engineer Certificate prepares students for a career as DevOps engineers in the field of information technology. The required coursework successfully trains students giving them critical job skills in networking, server, enterprise architecture, systems analysis, programming, and scripting. This certificate requires successful completion of a minimum of 40 credits as outlined.

Program Requirements (40 credits)


Program Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a knowledge of networking theory using a modern data communication protocol stack.
  2. Implement networks configuring switches and routers.
  3. Install and maintain network server operating systems and their underlying critical services.
  4. Understand and explain infrastructure as code.
  5. Utilize critical thinking to perform systems analysis on business operations to improve efficiency.
  6. Examine and understand the software development lifecycle.

Aged Credits Policy

​To ensure academic integrity and the relevance of degree competencies, coursework completed more than six (6) years prior to the date of matriculation is subject to departmental review. The college reserves the right to determine the applicability of such credits toward current degree requirements. Re-evaluation may be required to ensure alignment with contemporary industry standards and evolving curricula.

Credit/Grade Requirements 

A minimum of 30 credits or one-third of the required college-level (100-level or above) credits, whichever is less, must be earned at Edmonds College. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college-level courses.

Program of Study Outcomes

Students Are Advised To

  • Review how to apply for certain exams to be awarded as credit.
  • Plan their schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year;
  • Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning; and
  • Communicate with an academic advisor and/or a faculty advisor.

Graduation Application 

It is the student’s responsibility to apply for graduation. Your degree or certificate will not be awarded unless you submit a graduation application. A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.
