ASL& 121 - American Sign Language I
5.0 Credits Beginning grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. Focus on ASL constructions and use. Introduction to the history, culture, and current issues of the Deaf community (was ASL 101). Prerequisite Corequisite
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Comprehend content communicated in expressive ways to them in the target language.
- Communicate complex messages, thoughts, opinions and points of view with clarity in the target language.
- Receptive skills for comprehension and make use of analytical skills and critical thinking.
- Demonstrate understanding of vocabulary and grammar structures through expressive skills in target language.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of the literature, traditions and institutions of the target language and culture.
- Compare and contrast to your own culture.
