BUS 290 - Professional Development Seminar
Maximum of 1.0 possible Credits Develop critical job skills and competencies related to success in internship and career transition. Internet access required. S/U grade only. Permit code required, obtain from faculty coordinator. Prerequisite Concurrent enrollment in BUS 291. Corequisite
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary for job seeking and successful entry-level employment in business.
- Demonstrate ability to use on-campus resources and Internet based resources, including; networking, use of professional organizations; utilization of Web based career software; Career Resource Room; job fairs; job search techniques.
- Complete updated professional career portfolio.
- Present oral and written summary and evaluation of internship/work experience in group setting.
- Interview local businesses regarding industry trends and hiring practices and present written findings.
- Describe the professional workplace issues, challenges and rewards working in a dynamic business environment.
