MUSC 271 - Soundsation Vocal Jazz Choir

Intensive study of advanced jazz singing and playing, including different styles, improvisation/interpretation, vocal technique, and ensemble singing with microphones; numerous required performances/tours each quarter. Prerequisite
MUSC 173 and instructor permission. Corequisite
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Model to less-experienced musicians, appropriate technique, tone production, stylization and improvisation in jazz.
- Model to less-experienced musicians, behavior commensurate with being in a professional performing ensemble.
- Demonstrate competencies to effectively lead a sectional rehearsal outside of class.
- Compare and contrast jazz performers/styles through focused, critical listening.
