5.0 Credits Introduce concepts and measurements of reactive vs. proactive safety practices. Learn major hazards in workplace; how to collect, evaluate, respond to safety and health trend data; develop site- specific programs, policies, procedures; basic concepts of emergency preparedness. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Collect and evaluate data to identify safety and health trends.
- Identify and address risks and hazards in a variety of occupational settings.
- Create written policies and procedures to prevent and reduce risks and hazards.
- Develop appropriate plans for hazard mitigation and business continuity.
- Produce site-specific programs, policies and procedures that incorporate the needs of a diverse workforce.
- Adopt a proactive versus reactive approach to managing risk and hazards in the workplace.
