ECED& 120 - Practicum-Nurturing Relationships
2.0 Credits Students will apply theories of best practice in an early learning setting. Focus will be on developing supportive relationships while keeping children healthy and safe. Permit code required. S/U grade option. Prerequisite Corequisite
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Document a beginning understanding of relationships and practices that support young children’s development in an early learning program through use of observations.
- Document and describe initial skills in interactions with young children as a basis for relationship-based learning.
- Demonstrate appropriate practices that ensure and maintain the health, safety, and nutrition of children.
- Establish supportive relationships with children; guide children as individuals and as part of a group.
- Demonstrate support of children and families in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and responsiveness within and across cultures; participate in a professional manner to create an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment where all children, youth, and families can take pride in their cultural identities, beliefs, and practices.
