ENGR 231 - Introduction to Technical Writing
5.0 Credits Principles of organizing, developing, and expressing technical information and ideas in writing. Report forms, headings, style, tone, illustrations, word processing, and graphics. Prerequisite: ENGL& 101 or equivalent with a grade of 2.0 or higher.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze writing assignments in terms of the audiences to be reached and the purposes to be achieved. [COMMUNICATE]
- Apply the basic writing process principles of pre-writing, writing and revising to organize and write technical reports. [COMMUNICATE]
- Perform basic library research and computer database searches. [COMMUNICATE]
- Demonstrate the appropriate citations of source materials. [COMMUNICATE]
- Apply effective formats for informal and formal technical reports. [COMMUNICATE]
