HORT 116 - Plant Insects
4.0 Credits
Insect pests, predators and parasites of Pacific Northwest ornamentals; lifecycles and damages; chemical and biologic control methods with a sustainable focus. Prerequisite: Placement in BRDGE 093 or instructor permission. Students encouraged to have taken HORT 106, 107, 108, and 110.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze, synthesize and integrate information about the major types of pestiferous insects, plant hosts, along with signs and symptoms in order to successfully diagnose a variety of plant problems. [REASON]
- Work effectively in groups to evaluate insect-related plant health conditions and recommend control options given a variety of landscape situations. [COMMUNICATE]
- Apply appropriate tools, techniques and technology to facilitate selection of the least toxic and most sustainable method of control for a variety of common plant diseases. [ACT]
