Program Notes
The program code for this degree is PREN. For financial aid, advising, and other reasons, students should work with their advisor to ensure that this code is properly recorded on their academic record.
- Admission Requirements to a University or College: Admission application deadlines vary. Students must meet the deadline for the university or college to which they plan to apply for admission to transfer. For admission to nursing as a major, it is critical to note that grade point average requirements vary and admission is competitive. Certain schools may have additional “university-specific” requirements that are not prerequisites to admission to the Nursing major but will have to be completed prior to graduation and/or commencement of nursing courses. Certain schools may have additional “university-specific” requirements for admission to the institution that are not prerequisites specifically identified in the requirements for the Associate in Pre-nursing degree.
- Contact with advisors from individual schools for institutional requirements is highly recommended. Students completing this degree who have also met specific institutional grade point average requirements and/or any university-specific requirements will be regarded as having the minimum preparation for consideration for admission to a Bachelor of Science Nursing program to the colleges and universities listed in the program description.
*General Education Requirements Notes
- Human Relations and Professional Development Skills: HLTH 105 is strongly recommended. However, no more than three (3) credits of activity-based coursework can be applied to the DTA degree.
- The University of Washington is the only four year institution in Washington state that requires a Health/PE course for graduation.
- Quantitative Analysis/Symbolic Reasoning Skills: Students who plan to attend University of Washington (Seattle) must also take MATH 140, MATH & 141, or PHIL & 120. Students who plan to attend Seattle University must also complete MATH 140 or MATH & 141.

**Distribution Requirements Notes
- Humanities: Complete the required Communication Studies course and select 10 credits from at least two other departments within this distribution area. A maximum of five (5) credits in Performance/Skills courses and five (5) credits in foreign language at or above the 100 level may be applied. Students who plan to attend the University of Washington should not select Journalism courses.
***Program Electives Note

Only the University of Washington retains this requirement, but all baccalaureate institutions in the state of Washington accepting the DTA (including UW) require successful completion of college level math (100-level or above) or PHIL& 120 (see “Quantitative Analysis/Symbolic Reasoning Skills”). PHIL& 120 and all college level math courses at Edmonds CC currently require completion of Intermediate Algebra (MATH 087 or MATH 097) with a grade of 2.0 or higher or placement into college level math.
