Business Management - Associate of Technical Arts Degree

Program Description The Business Management Associate of Technical Arts (ATA) Degree is designed for students who want to update existing knowledge and skills and/or acquire up-to-date technical and managerial skills. This degree is intended to provide each student with the opportunity to develop a program that will best meet his or her needs and interests. The degree requires students to work with a Business Management adviser to select those courses which will help students achieve their educational and career goals. Many courses are available online.

The program includes a number of courses (indicated with an asterisk *) that may transfer to business administration programs at most four-year colleges and universities. Students with a potential goal of transfer should take these courses and work closely with an adviser to maximize transfer possibilities.

Credit/Grade Requirements This ATA degree requires successful completion of a minimum of 90 credits as outlined. A minimum of 30 credits or one-third of the required credits, whichever is less, must be earned at Edmonds CC. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college level courses.

Cultural Diversity Requirement All students earning a degree or certificate of 45 credits or more must meet a cultural diversity (CD) requirement by taking at least five (5) credits of CD courses. Students Are Advised To

  • Plan their schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year,
  • Review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning,
  • Communicate with an academic adviser, and
  • Submit an Evaluation Request - Transfer Credits Form (available in Enrollment Services) to activate the process of transferring credits to Edmonds CC.

Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.

OUTCOME: Demonstrate the ability to research employment opportunities, prepare an effective employment package, and present oneself positively in a job interview.

General Electives (to complete 90 credits)


Select from any course numbered 100 or above in order to bring the total credits to 90.

This degree, plus selected general education classes, transfers to Central Washington University’s bachelor of Administrative Management program on the Lynnwood campus at Edmonds CC.
