Program Description This broad based curriculum teaches the skills students need to enter a wide range of Web development careers. This curriculum is a cross-discipline approach to the emerging technologies being used on the Internet and the World Wide Web, and teaches students how to learn and adapt to emerging technologies. This degree will help individuals prepare for employment in Web development and administration, Web programming, and application development.
Entry Requirements Students entering CIS programs will need to contact Enrollment Services and take both the English and Math placement tests. Students should bring the results of these tests to their first advising appointment with a CIS adviser for proper placement into the program. In addition, some CIS certificates and degrees begin at an advanced level and are designed for students already in the IT field. Students entering these programs may complete a portfolio of prior learning by taking CIS 116 . The portfolio will be used to waive entry level courses and place students in the appropriate advanced courses. Please see a CIS adviser for more information.
The prerequisite for the required math course, CIS 114 CIS 114 - Math and Problem Solving , is placement into MATH 080 . Students with ACCUPLACER scores below the required level should take the appropriate math prerequisites and plan their schedule accordingly.
Career Management Requirement Students obtaining ATA degrees are required to take at least one (1) credit of career management, which can be satisfied by taking either CIS 116 or CIS 280 .

Credit/Grade Requirements This ATA degree is awarded upon completing a minimum of 90 credits of program requirements and electives as outlined. A minimum of 30 credits or one-third, whichever is less, of the required credits must have been received from Edmonds CC. Students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college level courses as well as a minimum grade point average of 2.8 within the program requirements.
Cultural Diversity Requirement All students earning a degree or certificate of 45 credits or more must meet a cultural diversity (CD) requirement by taking at least five (5) credits of CD courses. Students Are Advised To
- plan their schedule several quarters in advance in order to accommodate courses that are offered only once or twice a year,
- review the college catalog for required course prerequisites and include these in schedule planning,
- check plans with the appropriate faculty adviser, and
- see the CIS website to determine when courses are generally offered.
Graduation Application A completed Graduation Application form must be submitted online by the 10th day of the quarter in which the student expects to graduate. Note: Applications for summer quarter are due by the 8th day of the quarter.
CWU Transfer This ATA degree transfers directly to Central Washington University’s Bachelors in Information Technology and Administrative Management on the Edmonds Community College campus.
