PREP 20 - Social Studies Foundations
1.0 - 10.0 Credits Students learn to read, analyze, and write academically using contextualized social studies content for High School Completion, HS+, transition to college, GED, or state diploma equivalency tests.Orientation and advising are required before taking this course. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe basic principles of one or more of the following: U.S. Constitution, economics, civics, sociology, political science, or international relations.
- Apply a variety of reading and writing strategies to analyze social studies content.
- Read to deduce information from visual representations such as maps, charts, graphs, or pictures.
- Create an evidence-based argument in response to a social studies text.
- Produce writing that logically develops and supports key ideas and arguments using standard English conventions.
