CS 185 - Two-Dimensional Game Development Project 5.0 Credits Course covers techniques and tools used to create non-graphic game components such as joystick I/O, sound, video, networking, and artificial intelligence. Students integrate these components into a 2D game project (was CMPSC 185). Prerequisite: CS 161 (was CMPSC 161) or instructor’s permission.
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Write an application with sound which retrieves, interprets and handles data from and to multiple devices. [REASON]
- Create and edit a sound sample that can be used in a game. [REASON]
- Utilize basic fundamentals of game physics. [REASON]
- Define various fundamentals of working with sound and sound files. [COMMUNICATE]
- Create and present a design document for a game. [COMMUNICATE]
- Work on a team to create, debug and test a 2D video game which incorporates graphics, sound, input and physics modeling. [COMMUNICATE]
