PHYS& 122 - General Physics II 4.0 Credits Basic concepts in waves, sound, heat, fluids, and optics. Four hours of lecture and two hours of lab weekly (was PHYS 102). Prerequisite: PHYS& 121 (was PHYS 101) with a grade of 2.0 or higher and placement in ENGL& 101 (was ENGL 105).
Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding at a non-majors-level of the basic principles of waves, sound, heat, fluids, and optics. [REASON]
- Develop a clear understanding of the scientific method and its application to these principles. [REASON]
- Apply quantitative measures to situations involving these principles and develop a strong facility for working problems based on these principles. [REASON]
- Analyze physical systems to decide what information and principles are relevant to understanding the behavior of the systems. [REASON]
- Clearly communicate fundamental knowledge particular to physics with their peers using appropriate vocabulary. [COMMUNICATE]
