PREP 93 - Reading and Essay Development
5.0 Credits Focuses on the development of the full-length essay while improving students’ reading, writing, sentence, and discussion skills. Orientation and advising are required before taking this course. S/U grade option. Dual listed as ENGLP 93. Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs) Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:- Summarize and respond to the claims, concepts, and evidence of a text.
- Support claims with logical reasons and relevant evidence.
- Analyze the structure of texts, including how specific words, sentences, and paragraphs relate to each other and the whole.
- Plan, develop, revise, and edit essays.
- Write well-developed and coherent essays in which the organization and style are appropriate to purpose and audience.
- Use technology to access class components, produce writing, and collaborate with others.
- Demonstrate an intermediate command of English grammar and sentence skills, with a particular focus on sentence boundaries and sentence types.
- Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions including peer reviews.
