ELA 11 - Level 1 (Part 1)



5.0 Credits
Part 1 of ELA 10. A low beginning ELA class. Students develop English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and grammar. In addition, students learn English for mathematics and computer skills. This class is aligned with the Career and College Readiness Standards (CCRS), as outlined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2016. Prerequisite: Placement by instructor or advisor.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to use level-appropriate grammar. 
  2. Create level-appropriate complete sentences.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to speak with level-appropriate fluency. 
  4. Practice and demonstrate level-appropriate listening skills. 
  5. Demonstrate ability to read and respond to level-appropriate text.
  6. Recognize and use basic technology to assist with English language learning.
  7. Demonstrate the ability to use basic English math language.
