HTESL 42 - Listening and Speaking 4



4.0 - 8.0 Credits
An advanced intermediate ESL speaking and listening course in which students work as a class, in small groups, in pairs and in the community on a variety of situation-based exercises. Activities include discussions, interviews, speeches, and vocabulary/idiom development. Registration permitted first seven weeks as space is available.
Course-level Learning Objectives (CLOs)
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate academic presentations skills on topics that are familiar while incorporating supporting ideas based on outside knowledge.
  2. Demonstrate classroom discussion skills to develop students’ capacity for spontaneous and sustained speaking on previously introduced topics.
  3. Demonstrate ability to comprehend main ideas and details in listening passages modified for high-intermediate learners.
