ELA 74 - Small Business Preparation

An intermediate to advanced ELA course with a focus on preparing students for small business ownership or business courses. Students learn and understand resources to create and run a small business while expanding skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar. For students in levels 40-60. This class is aligned with the Career and College Readiness Standards (CCRS), as outlined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2016. Placement by instructor or advisor.

Upon successful completion ofthis course, students will be able to:

Discuss starting and running a small business with business professionals.
Evaluate and select available resources to help start and run a small business.
Analyze and use vocabulary and reading materials related to small business ownership.
Produce writing suited for business professionals or a college-level audience.
Demonstrate and use speaking strategies and pronunciation patterns to respond appropriately in a small business or college classroom setting.
