Managing through challenges and crises. Focus on interdepartmental and intradepartmental workflow to facilitate optimal patient care, manage patient surges and minimize the trauma impact on staff and patients.
Prerequisite Admission to IHCM - BAS program.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Incorporate the concepts of trauma-informed care into organizational crisis management and disaster planning.
Assess current interdepartmental workflow, identify areas such as communication, staffing and supply management that can impact care delivery and draft a plan to manage issues to maintain optimal care and reduce potential harm.
Implement strategies, resources, and practices to minimize the physical, psychological, and emotional stresses that can overwhelm staff and patients.
